NEO BANK CASE STUDY
This project was a fictitious exercise I completed for a job interview with an innovation consultancy in Berlin. I had 8 hours to develop it from the moment I was given the brief and instructions.
My Role
I created a high-fidelity prototype and built the design system of a neo-bank app.
BRIEF
Given the technological changes, the new needs of the younger generation, trends, and the pandemic, we have seen the emergence of fintechs, neobanks, challenger banks, among others. For this challenge, you will be a UX designer in a financial service startup eager to generate an innovative and attractive product.
Deliverables:
1. Define and create a user flow for an innovative experience.
2. Identify the inspiration through a little benchmark.
3. Make a high-fidelity digital prototype that reflects the user flow.

MY USER CASE
For this brief, I choose a User Case taking some characteristics in consideration to make my product:
GEN Z USER
DIGITAL MONEY
Their first money exchanges with their peers and received their first card through an app.
ALWAYS SHEARING
Teens live in an age where they want to share everything, from their thoughts, ideas and moments together.
GROUP ACTIVITIES
Because of their age, most of their activities are in groups, exploring friendship and new interests.
Because of this desire to socialize, share and spend time with their friends, our Gen Zs are often confronted with the need to share expenses for almost all their group activities. New applications have been gradually adopting the option of account splitting which facilitates the calculation and transfer of money.

My design aims to perform a bill splitting and achieve the following objectives:
No more maths
No more complicated adding up or division to figure out who owes what.
No extra apps
No more complicated adding up or division to figure out who owes what.
Split as you like
No more complicated adding up or division to figure out who owes what.

USER FLOW & PERSONA
Within the flow there are certain components and critical points that must be present for a successful transaction. The main objective is to split payments from the account to friends and family, even if they do not belong to the same bank.

BENCHMANRK - REVOLUT & MONZO APP

No more maths
No more complicated adding up or division to figure out who owes what.

DESIGN SYSTEM & SCREENS

For this case it was assumed that Sofia paid for some drinks after a hockey game and she wants to split the payments with her friend Sara via the app. They decide to split the bill in half.

What I've learned
Eight hours is not a long time to make a tangible prototype with a solid foundation. However, giving significant time to study the user, their interactions and their motivations, makes the execution effective and fast.
Banks have the challenge of showing an image of security and giving the customer confidence that their money is safe. At the same time, they must adapt to a friendly and customizable language, otherwise, they will fall behind the competition.
